Proposal Submission to Beamline

How to apply for Beamtime

The procedure for accessing the BL5.2 XAS beamline at the Synchrotron Light Research Institute (SLRI) involves a structured process, primarily handled through the online Beamtime Application System (BeamApp).

The general process starts from registration and proposal writing to review, allocation, preparation, and finally, the experiment itself.

Estimated beam time

Experiment mode

Transmission

  • XANES: 12-14 min/scan, normally 2 scans

  • EXAFS: 11-13 min/scan, normally 2-3 scans

Fluorescence

  • XANES: 12-30 min/scan depends on setting , normally 2 scans

  • EXAFS: 12-30 min/scan depends on setting , normally 2-3 scans

  • In case of there are changing in energy edge (e.g. from Ti to Fe), it will takes 60-90 min. for preparation approximately. And it will takes 90-120 min. if need to change monochromatic crystal (e.g. from InSb(111) to Ge(220)
